Vox announce Starstream Type-1 modelling electric guitar
Vox might be busy releasing lots of new amplifiers for 2016, but among all the amps is the new Starstream Type-1 Modelling guitar. Vox say this new guitar will uses magnetic pickups which are then combined with AREOS-D system to achieve a lot of different sounds and tones. This will include electric guitar, acoustic guitar, synths and other stringed instruments – all by utilising the new AREOS-D technology and onboard effects.
They should know a thing or two about this, as their original Starstream range from the 1960s often had built in effects like Fuzz or Tremolo. Those original guitars are now very sought after and highly collectable. So maybe this is a future classic?
There are 27 sounds available, and these are organised into three banks of nine. You can save up to six favourites as presets as well. That is a lot of sounds in one guitar, so let’s hope the use interface is user-friendly.
I like the look of this new guitar, for me it looks futuristic and classic all at once. Vox have used Mango as the main body wood and a hard rock maple neck. What makes it really interesting for me is their ‘Three-Dimensional Frame Technology’, which gives it a really striking look. Vox claims it is a very comfortable instrument to play. Whatever else it might do, it does look funky.
It’s nice to see the bigger manufacturers pushing the envelope of guitar design though, and I look forward to hearing this new guitar when it is finally released. The Starstream Type-1 will be available in five different colour combinations.
Starstream Type-1 Black (VSS-1-BK/Black Frame with Semi-Gloss Black body)
Starstream Type-1 Red (VSS-1-RD/Black Frame with Semi-Gloss Red body)

Starstream Type-1 Frame White (VSS-1-FWH/Metallic White Frame with See-Through Semi-Gloss Black body)
