Vox Valvenergy Series 2 pedals – More Nutube effects
Vox announces four new Nutube-driven effects for 2024
Vox Valvenergy Series 2 pedals are the latest additions to the range launched back in 2020. These four new stompboxes all feature Nutube technology and are possibly the only effects of their kind.
Valvenergy Series 2
Vox has chosen the week before NAMM 2024 to launch the new Valvenergy Series 2 pedals. These four new effects are the Power Burst, Smooth Impact, Fuel Injector, and Tone Sculptor. They follow on from the 2020 pedals which included the Copperhead Drive, Silk Drive, Cutting Edge, and Mystic Edge. The original 2020 release was all based on amp-style drive tones. Whereas, these new 2024 stompboxes are individual effects.
Boost
First up, is the Power Burst is a single-knob boost effect with three modes, and this booster pedal provides natural compression and extra sustain.

Compress
Smooth Impact is a Nutube-powered compressor and the fluctuating power supply voltage allegedly makes it feel responsive and natural.

Drive
Next up is the Fuel Injector and this overdrive offers a tube-like response with rich harmonics. It could be the one that players gravitate towards. Potentially, because it should, in theory, be quite responsive to playing dynamics.

Sculpt
Tone Sculptor is more than just a basic graphic equalizer. This one comes with a Nutube-driven preamp, which should add some extra harmonic content to your signal. Plus, a little tube-style compression to help it sit well in the mix.

New models, new Buffer
Vox has developed a high-quality natural buffer for each pedal. This new buffer circuit helps when the effects are off, and allows your guitar to maintain a natural feel and response. Then when the effects are on, the buffer is there to maintain the Nutube signal path keeping it nice and smooth.
Etched
All the new Valvenergy Series 2 come with an etched design, which is inspired by the unique effect it produces. As yet no official prices have been announced. I’m guessing that they will come in at a similar price point to the current models.
