Walrus Audio Canvas Tuner – Customisable Tuning for All
Walrus Audio has announced a new customisable tuner
The Walrus Audio Canvas Tuner features a bright 2.8-inch TFT LCD screen allowing users to tune their instruments easily and the way they want to. With both needle and strobe modes available.
Canvas Tuner
The Walrus Audio Canvas Tuner offers multiple screen orientations, along with a ±0.1 cent accuracy, needle and strobe tuning modes, and either buffered or true bypass options.
Canvas Series
It is hard to get excited about tuners and most musicians will buy one, based on price and how well it tunes. Walrus Audio’s Canvas Series of products forms a set of tools that support making music and are well-specified, as well as being utilitarian.
Previously, they have released a DI/LI, Stereo DI/LI, and the Re-Amp in this series.
This Canvas Tuner is never going to set the world alight, but it should make staying in tune a lot easier for many players. Plus, it has a very large screen that users can set how they like.
The Screen
The TFT LCD screen can turn 360 degrees in 90-degree increments. Allowing users to orientate it how they see fit. The Canvas Tuner also has three different standby screen modes; Canvas – With a Walrus Audio Canvas colour badge, Screensaver – Which has a little bouncing Walrus head, and finally, Picture Mode – Which allows users to upload their own own image via USB to be displayed on the bypass screen.
Tune Assist
As mentioned above, users can opt for either needle or strobe modes when tuning. There is also a Tune Assist mode for swift and accurate tuning.
With Tune Assist, once the note stays in tune longer than a pre-determined threshold, a border outlining the display will flash, letting you know that you are in tune.
There are also a host of default built-in tunings, including; Chromatic, Guitar Std, Drop D, and Bass Std. Plus, the usual Transpose, and Reference Pitch functions.
Modes
Users can also opt to leave the Canvas Tuner in Monitor Mode where the tuner is always displayed and when not muted, the audio flows through a clean low-noise buffer. Pressing the Bypass Switch in this mode toggles the mute on and off.
Then in Relay Bypass, the pedal is completely bypassed and the incoming audio signal is routed straight to the output jack. Finally, in Pass-Thru mode the pedal is again bypassed, but the incoming audio signal is routed through the clean low-noise buffer.
