Wavea Flite Multi-Sampler/Synth Plugin

You may not immediately know the name Sharooz Raoofi but you’re probably familiar with some of the things that he’s done. The man behind techno outfit Principleasure, sample companies Sounds to Sample and Sound Magic and online beats store Wavetick, Raoofi’s latest venture is plugin company Wavea. Given his history with samples, it should come as no surprise that Wavea’s first release features sampling front and center.

Called Flite, the new instrument is a hybrid multi-sampler and synthesizer and it comes packed to the gills with 2.5GBs of samples from Raoofi’s own personal collection of vintage synthesizers. Some of the instruments sampled include Yamaha CS-80, Roland Juno-106, Jupiter-8, TB-303, TR-808, TR-909, SH-101, Oberheim OB-8, Xpander, Sequential Circuits T8, Pro-One, Prophet-5, Korg Mono/Poly and LinnDrum.

Oh, and did I mention it’s free?

Wavea Flite: Two Versions

OK, so it’s not all free. Wavea Flite includes two versions in a single wrapper: the free Player, which includes 200 presets of all of those beautiful samples plus macros to adjust each one, and the full Creator version, which costs $99.

If you’re a fan of vintage synths or Raoofi’s music, that should be enough to prompt an immediate download of the Flite Player.

However, the Creator version adds quite a bit to the mix beyond just the ability to save presets.

Wavea Flite: Creator Version

WaveaFlite Creator is a hybrid sampler/synth instrument with four sample slots. Each slot is a full-on sampler, with key mapping and round robins. You can use the supplied sounds or import your own.

More Information

Along with the sample slots, you get a synthesizer section with FM, virtual analog and wavetable parameters with multiple oscillator modes. There are two filters, each with two- or four-pole lowpass/bandpass/highpass modes. Modulation includes three assignable envelopes, three LFOs and an extensive modulation matrix. There are also two 32-step sequencers and multi effects including a granular reverb from Sinevibes. Lastly, Wavea Flite gives you a three-band EQ for each voice – great for tone-shaping in-instrument – plus eight custom macros.

Wavea Flite: AI Coming Soon

In a post to his LinkedIn page, Raoofi mentioned that Wavea is working on adding an AI-powered, text-prompted preset generator and custom UX creator to the plugin which will allow users to generate their own presets and custom skins.

“Anyone can create custom instruments with a fully unique UI with just a few clicks!” he said. “An entirely new community of sound designers is born.” Additionally, “the hybrid architecture of synth/sampler provides vast possibilities for AI-powered preset generation.”

Wavea Flite: Price and Availability

From playing with it a little bit, I can say that Wavea Flite sounds gorgeous. I’m curious to see how it evolves in the future.

Flite is available now from the Wavea site (link below). It’s free to download and costs $99 to unlock the full Creator mode.

Ableton doesn’t see it, even though I installed it fine. It says this in its description: if Ableton doesn’t see it, read on Ableton’s page what to do in such a case (and link attached). Reboot, search with Abeleton (scan plugin) and the usual…
No problem with other daw? So they knew it was going to be bad?

    Is this serious?

Okay, it’s free stuff, but couldn’t it be released in a way that actually works? By the way, I would have been interested in the part of the multi-layer sampler, which I would have paid for. But I didn’t like it.

What I don’t understand is, if you know Ableton is going to have a problem, why don’t they fix this problem? Such programs cause chaos on my computer…
