Way Huge Stone Burner Sub Atomic Fuzz: Hot Fuzz!
Fuzz and Sub Octave
The Stone Burner Sub Atomic Fuzz is described by Way Huge as playing with molten lava and offers a new take on the Fuzz and sub-octave effect. From the mind of Jeorge Tripps, this new pedal could be hot fuzz indeed.
Stone Burner Sub Atomic Fuzz
The new Way Huge Stone Burner Sub Atomic Fuzz offers some unique fuzzy tones and is paired with a sub-octave effect.
Making it a fairly full-on fuzz box and one that can get pretty thick and creamy, low and dirty.
Sub Fun
The Sub 1/Sub 2 switch offers two settings of low-down dirt and the Sub control knob lets the user dial in the desired amount of low-end sub.
Fuzz
It then has controls for Tone and Fuzz which lets you set exactly how much fuzz and the flavour of that fuzzy tone. The Volume sets the overall output of both the sub and the fuzz sections of the pedal.
The effect can get quite aggressive and will work equally well on guitar and bass. It reminds me somewhat of the MXR Blue Box tonally, just more usable and potentially more flexible.
Verdict
Jeorge Tripps the designer and brains behind Way Huge makes some great fuzz pedals and this new one could be perfect for musicians looking for something more aggressive.
It could be perfect for Desert Rock for example, or for thickening up a three-piece band ina. live situation. The small format and top-mounted jacks make it easy to squeeze into a pedalboard setup as well.
I own the Atreides Weirding Module and it has many similarities with that one. Definitely, one where I would suggest that watching the official product demo video will say more than words ever will.
