XLN Audio Addictive Drums 2.5 Update Announced
A long overdue refresh for your favourite drum plug-in.
The XLN Audio Addictive Drums 2.5 Update brings an interface overhaul with a smattering of new features including the new Trig Gate effect.
For nearly 20 years, Addictive Drums has been one of the go-to plug-ins for designing drum sounds and drum replacement. With its versatile interface and sound library, you have the power to create the most authentic or outlandish drums, be it acoustic or electronic.
XLN Audio Addictive Drums 2.5 Update
Considering that Addictive Drums 2 was released back in 2014, it’s about time the interface got a new look. Now, with a sleek and clearly visible GUI, Addictive is easier to navigate than ever, and it doesn’t seem out of place or dated next to your other plug-ins.
Among the new features in the 2.5 update is the Trig Gate effect which is triggered internally through the MIDI notes being played. Three sliders let you determine how much of the kick, snare, and toms are triggering the gate. Furthermore, you can adjust the release time and floor of the gate, and there are DAW synced note divisions to keep things perfectly in time.
In addition, the Comp & Dist module is now equipped with a new Boost mode, activated with a little rocket ship button. This gives you a multiband compression algorithm specifically designed for drums, and the gain reduction meter lets you can see each band reacting to the threshold, ratio, attack, and release settings you dial in.
The EQ section has also been improved considerably. Apart from the new interface which makes it easier to use, the EQ now has its own spectrum analyzer so you can precisely target the areas you want to boost or cut in the frequency range. In the Beats section, the Beat Transformer has also been improved, allowing you to make quick adjustments to any MIDI parts in the library.
