Now in version 2, XLN Audio RC-20 Retro Color expands with a range of different effects across its various modules and an improved workflow.
Since its introduction a decade ago, RC-20 Retro Color has become a firm favorite among artists and producers, and now XLN Audio has completely revamped the versatile multi-effects plugin, considerably extending its scope of creative features.

With some of the new interface and workflow upgrades, RC-20 has taken a leaf from the book of the more recently released DB-30 Drum Butter plugin. This includes ideas like flexible modular processing that allows you to reorder your effects chain at any stage by simply dragging and dropping modules. One of the most obvious features is the new Echo module, which functions globally.
Besides giving you an interesting selection of controls for creating textured echo effects and soundscapes, you can also send the wet signal back into five of the six effects modules for adding even more depth. What’s more, the Grains control lets you turn basic delays into evolving granular effects, ideal for spacey, ambient sounds.
Within the LOSS module, Codec is a new algorithm that introduces gritty digital degradation, allowing you to alter formants and create abstract textures. Within the respective modules, you’ll find a range of new sounds, including tape, preamp, and cassette models in the DISTORT module, 32 new reverbs in the SPACE module, warp modulation in the WOBBLE module, and Sputter and Drive controls have been added to the DIGITAL module, to mention a few.
In addition, there are filters across four of the modules to accurately set the frequency range for each of these effects, and features like Tempo Sync and Loudness Matching make it easy to use RC-20 with any project in your DAW. To top it off, the preset browser has also been improved, and there are global effects like oversampling and bus compression to give your effects that “finished” sound.
