Yamaha TAG3 C TransAcoustic: Tap to Loop!
First announced in 2016 the latest TransAcoustic adds looping and Bluetooth for 2024
The Yamaha TAG3 C TransAcoustic Guitar has a new built-in looper and Bluetooth connectivity, combining the traditional acoustic guitar experience with modern technology.
TAG3 C
Yamaha’s TransAcoustic series first debuted in 2016 as a pioneer in intelligent guitar technology. They have now announced the newest models with enhanced features.
The TransAcoustic features two internal actuators that produce a “realistic sound that brings music to life.” These actuators also serve as the foundation for the guitar’s effects processing.
Smart Acoustic
The Yamaha TAG3 C is equipped with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that offers up to five and a half hours of playtime. The guitar’s onboard effects, including reverb, chorus, and delay, can be controlled through the TAG Remote app, which is compatible with iOS and Android devices.
Looping
One of the standout features of the TAG3 C is its built-in looper. This allows players to create and loop musical phrases, creating unique rhythms and soundscapes. The looper can be activated and controlled by simply tapping on the circular control below the soundhole.
You can store and retrieve up to 10 loops using the TAG Remote app.
Portable Speaker
Bluetooth connectivity enables the TAG3 C to pair with smartphones and other devices. This allows users to stream music directly to the guitar, transforming it into a portable speaker. The guitar’s internal actuators deliver a realistic sound experience, bringing music to life.
Traditional Construction
In terms of construction, the TAG3 C features a dreadnought body with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides. The guitar has a satin-finished mahogany neck with an ebony fretboard and bridge.
The TAG3 C is available in two finishes: Natural (TAG3 C NT) and Sandburst (TAG3 C SDB). It is priced at $1,469 / 1.599 € / £1,359 (here at Thomann*), which is relatively reasonable for an acoustic guitar of this quality. When you factor in all the added intelligent features, it seems like a bargain.
Looping, for example, could be a big win for many songwriters. The simple control layout and accompanying app are also bonuses.
