Yellowcake Pedals Furry & Fried – Dial in your overdrive and fuzz to taste
A Furry Burrito with added Fried Gold
Yellowcake Pedals introduces their new Furry & Fried and it combines Fried Gold with a Furry Burrito, so you can dial in your drive tones to taste.
Furry Burrito
This Furry Burrito half of the Furry & Fried pedal is an overdrive/fuzz channel that ranges from a nice, smooth warm overdrive to your more saturated fuzz that can produce Big Muff-like note sustain. There are controls for Level, Gain, Filter and Drive. It also has a blue led voltage trim knob to add signal break-up and there is also is a fat switch for an added bass response.
Fried Gold
The Fried Gold half of the pedal was made to complement the front end of a valve amp and give it a bit of a kick. It has a broad gain range and a milder tone than the Furry Burrito side but can add sizzle when required. Level, Tint and Gain are the three controls, with Tint adding more high-end frequencies to add some grit to your basic guitar tone.
The Furry & Fried has a useful effect order toggle switch, so you can switch which side you go into first with your guitar’s signal. As these pedals are all hand-built in the USA I would expect it to be well made and so it should enure the rigours of the road with no issues. Yellowcake Pedals have made some pretty cool pedals, one which stands out for me was their ‘Your Mom’ fuzz pedal, which I wrote about a few years back. They are one of these boutique pedal builders that make good quality stuff and this new one is on my radar to check out at some point if I can find a UK dealer carrying them.
They were previewing them at NAMM earlier this year, so you can check out how they sound in the video below. If you want one, then you can order direct from the link below.
