The Zoom H5studio is the latest iteration of one of Zoom’s most popular recorders, now armed with 32-bit float recording on six tracks.
In recent years, Zoom has taken to revamping its extensive line of handheld recorders, providing users with added functionality and compatibility features to keep up with the evolving market.

The H5studio gives you a total of tracks with 32-bit float recording via the four inputs and the built-in stereo XY microphone system. Equipped with a 19.4mm diaphragm and integrated shock mount, the new mic rig promises studio-quality recordings wherever you go, and the low-noise preamps allow you to expand your setup for any project.
With a pair of XLR combo inputs and a stereo minijack mic/line input, you have a choice of a wide range of microphones including lavalier mics. What’s more, there is a line out to connect your audio feed to your camera and sync it with the video capture. The H5studio allows recording to microSDHC/microSDXC cards of up to 2TB capacity, and there is a 30-second automatic backup recording system to minimize losing data unexpectedly.
In addition, the H5studio functions as a 4×2 USB interface, so you can also record directly to your DAW if you need to. Like the original H5, the microphone system is interchangeable with other modules including the SSH-6e, EXH-6e, and WLM-1. In use, the H5studio can be powered with 4xAA batteries for about 15 hours, or you can use a USB power bank to remain portable.
Overall, this is an exciting update for H5 users and will certainly see the same level of use as the original model in location sound applications.
